I’m about half-way through Lightning Returns now and am very excited to get back and involved in the community again. I’m letting you guys know this blog will once again be fully active when I finish the game. I will of course be tagging spoilers for those who are also not finished yet. Look forward to the re-invigoration of this blog!
Because of you, because I always believed you were with me, I was never afraid of the future. Even now…I’m not afraid.
…I’m so glad to have met you.

Just a notice for everyone - I will not be posting spoilers on this blog. I’m one of the people who want to be surprised when I first play the game. Thanks for your understanding!
Truth be told, Hope’s favorite part of day was the shift change - when he and Lightning were both relieved of their duties and they could finally go home after a long day. He loved working at the Academy, no doubt about that, but it could definitely make his head hurt at times.
And honestly, sometimes he wished they could just teleport home, rather than walk the roads back. It was handy, yes, because it passed by a convenience store and they often picked up stuff they could use for dinner that night.
Really, though, Hope wanted that teleporter so Lightning could get out of her uniform sooner. Not like that - though that was definitely nothing to complain about - but she was a firm believer in the fact that even if they weren’t on base, they were still representatives of the Academy and Corps while they were still dressed in uniform…which meant that if he so much as tried to go for something as simple as a kiss on the cheek, she wouldn’t allow it.
He saw her logic. Really, he did. But it was still kinda frustrating…not that he didn’t always attempt to sway that logic. As they quietly walked along towards home after stopping at the store, Hope reached out with his free hand, still staring somewhat straight ahead, and brushed his fingers against the back of her hand.
Lightning immediately slapped it away. “We’re still in uniform.”
Hope let out a dejected sigh. “Yes, ma’am.”
Perhaps the stress of work was getting to her, or maybe she’d seen the disappointed look on his face, because when they neared home, she broke her own rule and hesitantly linked their fingers together, a slight smile on her face at his astonished expression.
"Just this once."
Okay the ending was just too cute I had to mini-comic it and continue the pic-fic-pic chain
Sorry peeps I’ll stop reblogging this now

I’m gonna go to the new world with nothing but the strength you gave me
About a month ago, one lovely anonymous made us aware of a slight difference between the English and original Japanese hug-cutscene (go HERE if you want to see the post). And today, dagga19 (go check out her art, it’s cute) informed me of two more alterations!
After the battle against Odin and Lightning apologizes to Hope for being so harsh earlier, Hope runs after her with a giant smile in the Japanese version. But in the English adaption, his smile is erased and replaced with a half-confused expression.
Why was this scene changed!? This part was so significant! Here, we see Hope genuinely smiling for the first time after losing his mother and being transformed in a l’Cie!! He is so happy to finally be acknowledged by Lightning, whom he earnestly admires. I suppose the English version wanted to keep him melancholy for a while more, but I believe said decision ruined what could have been some earlier development for Hope’s character.
In the second alteration, the Japanese version shows Lightning actually cracking a smile as she watches over a sleeping Hope. As for the English rendition, we see a hint of a smile but it’s more of a slight curl in the lips.
While playing the Japanese game, this simple scene also becomes very important because players get a glimpse of Lightning’s true personality. With no eyes watching her, she doesn’t have to act cold or tough. She can slip an honest smile. In addition, this scene portrays the developing fondness she gains for Hope. His sleeping form (and him calling her ‘mom’) was probably very endearing to Lightning, like a little brother. She couldn’t stop the smile from coming. This scene is definitely a sweet one, both in the English and Japanese versions.
Again, keep looking for more of these differences, peoples! :D
